Back to School

Opening doors through Education

As a new school year begins in Belize, we are reminded once again that education can change the direction of a child’s life. For many children, returning to school means more than simply getting back into the classroom. It means having the books they need, the opportunity to continue their education, and the support of people who believe in their future. At Corozal Belize Ministries, we are committed to helping make those opportunities possible.

This year, CBM is working toward an ambitious goal: collecting 10,000 books for children in Belize. Books are one of the simplest ways we can put opportunity directly into a child’s hands. Over the past year, CBM has already helped fill multiple elementary school libraries with books, giving students greater access to reading materials and resources they may not otherwise have. But there is still so much more to do.

Our goal of 10,000 books will allow us to continue bringing books into schools, classrooms, libraries, and communities throughout Belize. Every book can introduce a child to a new idea, strengthen their reading skills, encourage their imagination, or simply help them discover the joy of reading. We are grateful for every person who has already donated and for everyone helping us reach this next goal.

10,000 books. Thousands of opportunities. One child at a time.

One of CBM’s most important programs is our 4th Form Scholarship Program, which helps students continue their education through high school. In Belize, 4th Form represents the beginning of the high-school years, covering Forms 4 through 6, roughly equivalent to Grades 9–12. For some students, the cost of continuing their education can become a significant barrier. A scholarship can mean the difference between having the opportunity to continue school and having to leave school behind.

$425 can provide one child with a year of high school. That $425 helps give a student the opportunity to remain in school, continue learning, and work toward a future that may otherwise be out of reach. Our vision is to provide 150 scholarships next year.

That means 150 students who can continue their education.

150 families receiving support.

150 young people being given another opportunity to pursue their goals.

And behind every number is a child with a name, a family, dreams, abilities, and a future. Education is one of the central ways CBM serves children and communities throughout Belize. Our work has included projects such as providing books for elementary school libraries, supporting students through scholarships, and improving community spaces.

Recently, CBM has also been involved in projects including building a prototype house model and creating gravel walkways in Concepción. Each project may look different, but they all have the same purpose: serving people and strengthening communities.

Help Us Reach 10,000 Books

As children return to school, we are asking our supporters to help us make this school year different for as many students as possible. We are collecting books to help build and stock libraries and provide children with books they can actually take into their hands and read. Our goal is 10,000 books. Whether you are able to donate one book, a box of books, or help spread the word, your contribution can become part of something much bigger.

A book can become a doorway.

A scholarship can become a future.

And together, we can help open both.

150 Scholarships. 10,000 Books.

These are big goals. But every large goal begins with one child, one book, one scholarship, and one person willing to help.

This school year, CBM is continuing to invest in the children and young people of Belize through education, opportunity, and practical support.

Thank you to everyone who gives, prays, shares, volunteers, and helps make this work possible.

Together, we can help children stay in school, discover the joy of reading, and build a brighter future.
