Opening Doors Through Education

As another school year begins in Belize, we are reminded of how much opportunity can come from something as simple as a backpack, a book, or a scholarship.

For many students, continuing their education is not guaranteed. Families may want their children to stay in school but simply cannot afford the costs that come with it. This is where Corozal Belize Ministries has the privilege of stepping in.

Helping Students Stay in School

Through CBM’s scholarship program, students in 4th Form through 6th Form can receive financial assistance toward their education. Each scholarship provides $425 USD per year, helping families with the cost of keeping their children in school.

Our goal is to provide 150 high-school scholarships, giving more young people the opportunity to finish their education and pursue what comes next.

Every scholarship represents more than financial assistance. It represents another year of learning, another step toward graduation, and another opportunity for a student to build a future they might not otherwise have had.

Books That Open Doors

Education doesn’t stop at the classroom door.

This year, CBM is also working toward an ambitious goal of providing 10,000 books to children and schools throughout Belize. Books give students the opportunity to explore new subjects, strengthen their reading skills, and discover ideas beyond what they encounter in their everyday lives.

We have already had the joy of filling school libraries with books, and we are excited to continue expanding access to reading throughout the country.

A library can become much more than a room full of books. It can become a place where a child discovers a new interest, finds a favorite story, or begins imagining possibilities for their own future.

Behind every scholarship and every book is a student.

These are children and young people with different families, different circumstances, and different dreams. What they share is the desire to learn and the hope of having opportunities available to them.

When we help a student remain in school, we are not simply helping them through one school year. We are investing in the person they are becoming.
